W.I.T. – WHAT’S IT ALL ABOUT??
FROM STA-GONER’S OF MIDDLE GEORGIA WELCOME…. We are so happy you are interested in our group! Perhaps you have some questions about our organization, which we will attempt to answer here.
We are part of the national Winnebago/Itasca Travelers (WIT). Although we have by-laws for our local chapter and from national, our main purpose is to meet other WIT members and have fun.
We (Sta-Goner’s) are members of the GA State WIT Club (the Georgia Winnie Rebels). There are also two other local group. (Metro-Atlanta, and Gone with the Winnie’s). You may have membership in the other groups as well; or attend their gatherings as a guest on an occasional basis. As a WIT member you may attend functions anywhere in the world there is an organization. These are announced in the WIT magazine.
STA-GONER meetings are held on the first “full” week-end of: FEBRUARY; MARCH; JUNE; AUGUST; OCTOBER; NOVEMBER; and DECEMBER. Members volunteer to be hosts. They plan the week-end. This would include meeting site, reservation information, meals, activities,etc. They inform the secretary who then notifies everyone in the club. )
STATE meetings are held on the third “full” week-end of: : January; May; and September. The Sta-Goner’s are the hosts for every January meeting. The 2008 January meeting will be held at the KOA in Lake Park , GA.
The third week of April we hold a GA STATE RALLY. WIT coaches from other states are invited to attend and we have a number of vendors, activities, and entertainment. In 2006 we held, a first ever, Southeastern United States Rally, in November. We had coaches from 13 states and Canada. This may become an annual event.
In July the GRAND NATIONAL RALLY (GNR) is held at the home of Winnebago Industries in Forest City, Iowa. It is a “super” gathering with many activities and “name” entertainment.
Our chapter year runs from 1 January to 31 December. OCTOBER is an especially important month. We pay our dues for the following year; have election of officers; and schedule the volunteer hosts and the locations for the following year’s meetings. We do this in October so we can meet the deadline for the January WIT magazine.
A membership application is attached to this web site. If you desire to join us please send your application to our Treasurer, Annette Wilson, with a check in the amount of $5.00. You will pay your state and local dues in October. Since it is so late in the year, there will be no other dues due until then. At present our state dues are $10.00 and chapter dues are $15.00 per year.
